In the News: $1.2 billion mixed-use development, Wyld Oaks, ahead of schedule

Bulldozers, excavators, and dump trucks at Wyld Oaks are ahead of schedule transforming the northwest corner of Orange County.

APOPKA, Fla. – Bulldozers, excavators, and dump trucks at Wyld Oaks are ahead of schedule transforming the northwest corner of Orange County—and the local media is taking notice.

Wyld Oaks, a massive mixed-use development that’s taking shape off the 429 expressway, will bring a mix of housing, shopping, dining, entertainment, and hotels to Apopka’s booming Kelly Park corridor.

Justin Warmoth, who hosts the “Boomtown” series for News 6, has been following the story since the $1.2 billion project broke ground in January. News 6 recently visited the Wyld Oaks site to get an update on the progress being made.

Joseph Beninati, the founder and visionary behind Wyld Oaks, told News 6 that the project is ahead of schedule and ahead of budget.

Beninati went on to describe the scope of the Wyld Oaks project, explaining that critical infrastructure work should be completed in time for Thanksgiving. Following the holiday, Madison at Wyld Oaks, a 325-unit multifamily community is scheduled to break ground. He predicted that subsequent groundbreakings for future multifamily communities and townhomes, as well as hotels, retail, and offices, would break ground over the next 5–6 years.

At full build-out, which is projected over the next 10 years, Beninati anticipates that there will be 3,000–4,000 residential units (including apartments, condos, and townhomes), 280,000 square feet of retail space, 200,000 square feet of office space, 70,000 square feet of restaurant space, two hotels, walking trails surrounding Yonder, a 10-acre preserve of 100-year old heritage oak trees including BARK, a 1–2-acre dog park.
